This time I will be talking about the MG Strike Gundam + IWSP. Generally,  I pick up this kit because of it nice backpack design. Similar to most MG kit, the height is approximately 18 to 19cm. The shoulder can rotate 180 degrees. The elbow and knee joint can also perform a 180 degree bend.

The Strike Gundam can equipped the Combat knifes and when the Combat knife is not in use, it can be stored waist armor compartment at sides. Dry transfer decals can be used on this kit. I only apply two decals on the shoulders armor and generally, I am quite bad at using dry tranfer decals. This kit is pretty solid and detailed. I did some panel lining on the Strike Gundam.

IWSP3 IWSP5

The IWSP Unit is equipped with two cannons and 1 pair of swords(Anti-Ship Sword). The fins of the IWSP unit can be moved up and down. The cannons can also be move up and down. Generally, the IWSP Unit is quite large in size and it will definitely cause some back heavy issues when mounted onto the Strike Gundam.

IWSP48 IWSP27

Bandai has provided the action base for this kit due to back heavy issue caused by the IWSP unit. When the IWSP unit is equipped onto the Strike Gundam, the posing capability of the kit is affected as the parts of the IWSP unit will get in the way. The hands of the Strike Gundam does not come with a peg on it, so it cannot hold the beam rifle firmly.

IWSP44

The Strike Gundam + IWSP kit come with a standard shield and a Combined shield (30mm 6-barrel Gatling machine gun x 1, “Midas Messer” beam boomerang x 1). The Beam boomerang will fall off from the Shield quite easily.

IWSP1 IWSP25

The Blades of the Anti ships sword and the Grand Slam Sword is originally white so I used metallic silver paint to sprayed paint the Blades.

IWSP40 IWSP32 IWSP33

As the Grand Slam sword is very large and long, it is very hard to pose with it. Furthermore, without the pegs on the Strike Gundam’s hands to hold weapons firmly, posing with a large weapon prove to be very challenging.

Pros

– Great articulations

– This kit comes with multiple different types of weapons allowing a lot of different poses.

– Dry transfer decals is provided to improve the aesthetic of this kit

Cons

– Severe back heavy issue

– Beam Boomerang fall off quite easily from the Combined shield.

– The Strike Gundam’s hand does not comes with pegs to secure weapons firmly onto the hands.

– Painting may be required on the Swords.

IWSP45In conclusion, I find that the Strike Gundam + IWSP kit is generally quite good. In my opinion, the Unique design if the IWSP Unit is the selling point of this kit. It does comes with some flaws and posing this kit is quite difficult as the IWSP Unit tend to get in the way. As a result, this kit is quite difficult to play around with its poses and it might be better just to just display it on the shelf after getting the desired pose. This concludes my review for this kit. Stayed tunned for more review coming up next.

Colors used to paint the IWSP Unit

Candy Red

Metallic silver

Light Gun Metal

Chrome Yellow

Metallic Blue

I have also change the Scope lens of the 105mm cannons and the Beam rifle using the Clear green lens. Cement is required to secured the lens firmly in place. When i use the Candy Red color on the IWSP Unit, I expected the color to be lighter. However, it turns out that the color became very dark and it resulted into a pretty awkward color combination. Well this kind of a fail on my part.

I did try to salvage it as much a possible. However, I end up screwing up more stuff such as parts breaking, parts having scratch marks. In the end, I just give up on Customizing the IWSP Unit. Right now the IWSP unit is in terrible Shape and I don’t think it is very pleasant to look at. I might need to get replacement parts for the IWSP Unit when I get the chance. So right now the Strike Gundam is the only thing posing on my shelf without the IWSP unit. Quite Sad that it came to this. But oh well shit does happens from time to time and this is a gunpla kit breakage and damage is likely to happen when doing customizing.
